After having my mind blown by the spectacle that was Pacific Rim, I kept hearing how much of the movie had been inspired by (or cribbed, or ripped-off from) Neon Genesis Evangelion. This 1995 Japanese sci-fi television series is well-loved by fans of Anime and Mecha. Well, that is right up my alley, since I was a big collector of Macross (also known as Robotech) and Yamato books and toys back in the day.
Jays Salt N’ Sour Chips are at a disadvantage before you even open the bag. When you see the phrase” artificially flavored” right under the title, a title which doesn’t even mention “vinegar” (totally avoided it, used “sour”), that should tell you this won’t be a good Salt and Vinegar chip experience.

The song in the background of the Samsung Refrigerator Rocket Surgeon Commercial was originally recorded by none other than Depeche Mode ! And the song, a favorite of mine, is “Just Can’t Get Enough” from the CD “Speak and Spell“ and is also on their Greatest Hits CD. Now to be fair, the music in the commercial is a “cover” or a song recorded by another band, not Depeche Mode.
The commercial is titled “Cocktail Party” and aired recently on ABC during The Bachelor.
While in New Orleans, I stumbled across an odd snack in the gas station – Samai Jungle Chili Plantain Chips! So, first off I realize this is not a NOLO thing, it is most likely the gas station was carrying food the customers in the area bought. But still, plantain chips? And not just chips, these were “Jungle Chili” flavored chips. What now????
