Not such a new commercial anymore, but still captivating when you hear the distinctive piano music playing.

The piece is for a commercial called "Journey" and was created exclusively for these Canon commercials. Michael has a site here, where you can learn more about him and his music.

The song reminds me a lot of the music from the "SOLARIS" trailer, called "Fragile." A great song, be sure to get FRAGILE on iTunesVarious Artists - All-Time Great Film & TV Themes, Volume 1 - Fragile (Theme from the Trailer to "Solaris") or (Amazon) if you liked "Journey."

The commercial is after you click READ MORE, followed by a YouTube video of a pianist re-creating the same tune. And for good measure, the SOLARIS trailer, with George Clooney, featuring "Fragile."

This one comes in from my buddy KB:
Who was it covering the 80's song "Major Tom (Coming Home)" in the Lincoln MKV commercial?

Thanks for the question, KB!

That song is performed by Shiny Toy Guns. For a while, this was a FREE download at the Shiny Toy Guns website (site appears to be offline). But Lincoln also had it on their site, and the link is gone too (but for the moment, you can grab the song anyway, as the file is still there). Sadly, the song is not available on iTunes or Amazon, but you can check out some of their other songs Shiny Toy Guns.

And just to confuse things, this song is an "answer" to David Bowie's "Space Oddity" David Bowie - The Best of David Bowie (1969-74), found on The Best Of David Bowie 1969-1974. This song was recently covered by Cat Power (Amazon) Cat Power for the SAME company, Lincoln. (but she never released it)

Those of us who grew up in the 80's might recall the original version by Peter Schilling. You can still get that version at iTunes Peter Schilling & Boom-Bastic - Major Tom '94 - EP or on the CD VH1: More of the Big 80's.

I thought that song sounded familiar, but I never looked into it. Then GracieLucy posted this question in our forums:

What is the song played in the Chase commercial when the Chase texts the checking account balance to the mom with her 2 girls?

Hmm.. the song, which we only hear a little of, goes:

Suddenly I see - Suddenly I see
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see - Suddenly I see

Which leads us to the artist of the tune, K.T. Tunstall and the song "Suddenly I See" from her CD "Eye to the Telescope." KT Tunstall - Eye to the Telescope

Click "Continue Reading" to see a video of K.T performing "Suddenly I See" live on CBS.

OK, now that Denny is gone (oh please, for good this time) maybe we can move on to some better Gray's Anatomy episodes. At least the music was good.

This one came right from the "What the Heck is that Song" forums - be sure to post your questions there!

MusicLover asked:
Anyone know the title to the song in the Coke comercial where the guy is stealing a sip of Coke as he fills his cup from a self serve fountain? Line from song, "I'm a criminal"

And what do you know, MusicLover had the answer!
The name of the song is "I'm a Criminal" by Paul Reddick & The Sidemen (Amazon MP3) Paul Reddick & The Sidemen - Rattlebag - I'm a Criminal You can find it on "Revue: The Best of Paul Reddick" along with other great tunes.

Have a sip!

HP has a great new computer out that reminds me a lot of the iPhone or iPod Touch. If you've seen the commercial for the HP Touch Smart, you probably liked the song they used. Who sang the music that goes:

Do you Wanna Touch (Yeah)
Do you Wanna Touch (Yeah)
Do you Wanna Touch Me There
Yeah
There
Yeah There ohhh There oh Thereeeee

Well that was none other than Joan Jett and the Black Hearts singing "Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)" from the 1998 CD "Bad Reputation." Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - Bad Reputation You can grab it right now from iTunes Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - Bad Reputation - Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah) or Amazon MP3.

Here's the HP Touchsmart commercial then below that, the original Joan Jett music video:

I've had a lot of questions about the new Target commercial song with a female singer with two girls dancing around and decorating their dorm room, with a reggae salsa latin dance vibe to it.

I have not seen this commercial yet. so I will have to leave this one to you. It one of these two versions of the same song:

I am pretty confident that the version in the commercial is the one by Enur. Enur

Don't have a video of the commercial yet, but you can view the music video and hear the entire song, right here:

Dell just started running a new ad for their color laptops which has a cute girl on a pink motor scooter with a pink helmet and a pink laptop. Catchy lyrics:
I am green today
I chirp with joy like a cricket song.
I am orange today
Loud and messy like fingerpaint on the wall

This song is by Kira Willey and is called "Colors," (Amazon MP3) Kira Willey - Dance for the Sun - Colors from her CD "Dance for the Sun." Kira Willey - Dance for the Sun

Watch the commercial right here:

OMG UR A PIG!! Or so says the new commercial from ATT featuring the LG Shine. Lyrics? Nothing more than "Oh Yeah."

The song? Um.

How about "Oh, Yeah" by Yellow (amazon) Yello - Stella - Oh Yeah. As made famous in "Ferris Beuller's Day Off."

Apparently, there is another ad featuring "Heaven Isn't Too Far Away" by Warrant.

If I knew anything about "The Hills" I'd have known that the commercial also featured Lauren Conrad and Brody Jenner. Or is it "Laguna Beach?" I'm so out of touch....

The new JC Penney ad for Back To School is a great callback to "The Breakfast Club." It features teenage boys and girls dancing and acting like in the movie, and even features the hit song from the movie, though re-made:

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

The JCP commercials feature several different versions of the song. One is "Don't You Forget About Me" by New Found Glory New Found Glory - From the Screen to Your Stereo, Pt. II - Don't You (Forget About Me) from their CD "From the Screen to Your Stereo, Pt. II." New Found Glory - From the Screen to Your Stereo, Pt. II ... I think.

But are at least 5 verions by other bands (such as Hawk Nelson, Sun Lux and more). Your best bet is the iTunes-only JCPenney offering called "JCPenney Presents: Don't You Forget About Me (The Covers) - EP." Simple Minds - JCPenney Presents: Don't You Forget About Me (The Covers) - EP It is - a collection of remakes of DYFAM - six different versions, a great idea!

But I'd be slammed if I didn't mention that the song was originally recorded by Simple Minds Simple Minds - 80's Hits - Don't You (Forget About Me), and is available on the Breakfast Club soundtrack (Amazon) and on iTunes in "Now That's What I Call The 80's" Simple Minds - Now That's What I Call the 80s - Don't You (Forget About Me)

And if you have not seen "The Breakfast Club" pick up the DVD, you'll appreciate the J.C. Penney commercial even more.

First off, why is the official HSM3 trailer website (High School Musical 3: Senior Year) so hard to find? Well I have the link, so no worries.

While you watch, listen for one of the new songs on the soundtrack with the lyrics:
16...16...16 minutes left better get it done
16...16...16 more minutes get ready GAME ON!
This is the last time to get it right (GO!)
This is the last chance to make it our night (YEA!)
We gotta show what we're all about (TEAM!) (WILDCATS!)
Work together! (GO!)

That song is "Now or Never" which you can find on the official move soundtrack - pre-order it today, it comes out October 24th 2008!

And, as promised, here is the link to the official HSM3 movie trailer at Disney website. You can download the trailers, and even a few are in HD! You can also watch it right here at the end of this page.

This great question came in via the Forums from Nikki:
what is the song in the nbc olympic tv commercials? all i remember is someone is swimming at the end of the commercial and the only words i caught are no sacrifice. i have been looking everywhere and cant find anything. please someone help its driving me crazzzzzyyyyy!!!! thanx

Josh did the hard work and came back with the answer:

After a long ... time of searching, I found the title to this song. Its "Sacrifice" by Theory of a Dead Man. Hope this helps

I'd wager that you helped more than Nikki on that one! And if you'd like the tune, you can find "Sacrifice" Theory of a Deadman - Scars & Souvenirs - Sacrifice on the Theory of a Deadman CD "Scars & Souvenirs." Theory of a Deadman - Scars & Souvenirs

Have you got a song that is driving you crazy? Can't find the title? Post a question in the "What The Heck Is That Song?" forums!
