ABC made a good choice when they picked Pitbull to perform on the commercial for the new 2013 season. But what was that song he was singing? Sure sounded like an old 90′s song I remember!

Turns out the song is “Feel This Moment” by Pitbull and Christina Aguilera. You can grab the single at Amazon /iTunes or pick up the CD Global Warming (Deluxe Version).

Oh and that 90′s song I thought I heard? Sounds like Pitbull is borrowing a bit of “Take On Me” by a-ha! from the 1990 CD Hunting High and Low! I knew I knew that hook melody!

Ever have one of those days where you are told you are the project manager of a project that has been going for 3 months? And oh yeah, it launches in 3 weeks!

I suppose I should be flattered that I am being trusted with the completion of the technology project for this major institution. I should. Yes, really I should. Right? So why don’t I?

If I’d had any idea while in all those meetings I’d been attending that it was ME who was in charge, I can tell you I’d be doing things differently!

So as it stands in the two days since I found out, I’ve organized 2 meetings, gathered data, briefed the team, planned the announcements and will be building and launching a website in one day so it can be announced to everyone by the next day.

Hm, well that puts us less than 3 weeks to launch and we still haven’t finished the data import nor the authentication login process.

I feel good about this. Oh yeah, this will end well.

I have just started the C25K program (go here for an explanation) and since I have an iPod Touch, I really wanted a great podcast of awesome music to push me forward.

Except, while there are some great C25K podcasts out there, no one has all the music I want to hear (well of course, we all like our own music). So, I opted to make my own podcast. Well, podcast may not be accurate, since I am not offering them for download (due to the whole music licensing issue).

Here’s How You Can Create Your Own C25K Podcast:

1) Get an Audio Editing program, with layered tracks.

My favorite program for making audio edits is Sony Vegas, which is more of a video editing program (but works with MP3s too). However, it is pretty expensive. Audacity is a nice, free option.

For Mac, you can also use Audacity, or even Garage Band. But my new Favorite is MixPad. It is a lot like Vegas (multi-layered audio tracks, easy to bring down audio on individual tracks if needed) and has a generous free trial.

2) Grab C25K running cues in MP3.

For the running cues, I’d recommend these text-to-speech MP3 tracks. I found weeks 5 and 6 confusing, so I re-edited those. But otherwise, they are excellent.

3) Convert your favorite power songs to MP3.

4) Create a new audio project for each week.

As you open your audio editing program, first add the running cue for Week 01 (for example). Then, on another track, add in your first MP3 power song. Keep adding songs until you reach the end of the audio cues.

For week 01, you may want to just lay in a few songs and call it good. I pushed myself to change songs for every :60 run and :90 walk (with tempos to match), so it took a LOT longer than most would want to spend on it.

As the weeks go on, you have more song and less walking, so you might want to try my method on later weeks.

5) Export your project to MP3

This is pretty simple, most programs have a “Save As” or “Export Project As” menu option.

6) Add your tracks to iTunes (or your music manager software of choice).

For mine tracks, I dragged them into iTunes, right clicked and picked “Get info” and set the File names and other options.

Note: On “Get Info” be sure to go to “Options” and select “Remember Playback Position.” That way, if you need to start the track again, you won’t lose your place.

7) Add tracks to a Playlist and sync with your iPod (or music player of choice).

If you use Nike+ or some other C25K app to track your progress, they often allow you to pick a playlist. This makes it easy to select your C25K music for the soundtrack.

Note: Be sure to disable the app’s built-in audio cues if you prefer to use your own – that would get very confusing!

8) Get Running!

I hope this guide has helped. I know it is very rudimentary, and doesn’t step through every phase of each step. But, it is exactly how I do mine and they ALWAYS have the music I like when I do it this way!

We’ve been to Chipoltle many times, and more than the burritos the Cilantro Lime Rice always seems to be the dish we talk about most – sounds like a perfect D.I.Y. Project.

Today I’ve decided to try to make the Chipotle lime rice myself and wanted to share the recipie. This is not the actual recipe, just a close approximation.

Actually, it isn’t my recipe – I found it in the comments from this post at ChipotleFan.com. The link has a post with 2 recipes, either of which sound about right.

But in skimming the comments, it seems that the most common ingredients are:

• Rice
• A Bay Leaf
• A mix of lime and lemon juice (possibly orange too)
• Lime zest
• Kosher Salt
• Soy Oil

I didn’t use the recipes, but instead put mine together based on the comments – I thought there were easier ways to get the same result.

Rice Mix

6 cups of brown rice (the cheap kind, white is fine too)
1/4 cup cilantro, finely chopped (feel free to add more, 3/4 cup would be good)
1/4 cup olive oil (there are better kinds, like Soy oil, but this is what we had on-hand)
1 bay leaf (we didn’t have this so I did without)

Lime Mix (prepare before cooking rice)
1/2 tsp kosher salt, or 5-6 turns-worth of sea salt from grinder
1 lime, juiced
Stir together until salt is dissolved

Steam the rice, putting 1 bay leaf in with the water.

Adding the Olive Oil

Put steamed rice in a warm wok (or deep skillet) add olive oil and stir to coat rice.

continue to stir and warm rice – keep on low to medium heat (we don’t want to fry the rice).

Freshly Squeezed Lime

Prepare lime mix.

Adding the Salt to the Lime

I modified this and added a tablespoon of orange juice as well, not sure if it made a difference.

Lower heat of wok/skillet.

Add the chopped cilantro right before being ready to serve.

3/4 cup of Chopped Cilantro

My family isn’t as nuts about Cilantro as I am, so I put less in the rice and saved the remainder to add to my bowl!

Stir and serve. Best to save adding the cilantro for until right before serving, so it stays a bright green.

Homemade Cilantro Lime Rice

Give one of your squeezed out lime halves one last good squeeze over the rice, just because!

If you want a slightly different, but closer to Chipotle’s version, check this comment from nlkbot.

Random tips from the comments:

• Try Sun Orchard lemon-lime juice.
• Steam the rice with a bay leaf
• Add a bit more salt than what it calls
• Cook the rice first, let it cool, add oil, then add juice/salt mix
• One suggestion was to add the salt, then mix in the lime
• Always add Cilantro last so it stays bright green
• Rinse rice in a strainer to make it less sticky

I meant to post this sooner but I kept forgetting to bookmark the YouTube link. So, instead I am just going to post it right from the iPad here in Barnes and Noble.

I love this video because it inspires me a user of Apple technology about how to think bigger bout how I might use their apps. Hopefully this video, shown at Apple’s 2012 WWDC conference, will inspire IOS developers to think BIG when they make an app, and not just settle for another fart machine.

The Bud TV ad is called “Eternal Optimism” and was created by the ad agency called Anomoly. The music was provided by Yessian Music, who, according to Huffington Post,

That is what is known as a mashup, or mash-up, and it was created just for this Superbowl commercial. But who knows, it may become available for sale, it has happened before!

You can, of course, make your own, with GarageBand or Sony ACID!

Today I will be reviewing in inexpensive anti-snoring mouthpiece, sometimes called a “mandibular advancment device.” The actual name of the product I bought is called: Snore Mouthpiece Mouth Piece – Anti Snore Device Sleep Aid Snore Guard . No, really, that is the actual name on the page at Amazon!

Here is the image you’ll see on the product page. From here on out, I will just call it the Anti-snore Mouthpiece .

I’d had enough nights of being poked and kicked because of my snoring, and being cheap, I didn’t want to deal with the cost a C-PAP exam. So, as I was browsing Amazon, I saw the Anti-snore Mouthpiece. Low price, and Free Super Saver Shipping (woot!). So after adding a few other goodies to my cart, I sent off my order.

So, now for the Anti-snore Mouthpiece review!

Here is a better picture, my photo of the unboxing. What you get is a small white box, a blue case, a thick Popsicle stick and what looks like a football player’s mouth guard. You’ll need to follow the instructions carefully and be sure to read them a few times.

But essentially you boil some water, take it off the heat for about 18 seconds, drop in the Anti-snore Mouthpiece for 18 seconds, fish it out then put it in your mouth to form it around your teeth. After you push it down on your teeth with your hands on your cheeks, you drop it in some cold water to quicken the Anti-snore Mouthpiece.

What you wind up with looks like a cast of your teeth, and is a perfect fit. But be sure to do it just as the instructions say – or you could end up with a ball of gooey rubber. In fact, later I will give you some tips.

But let’s get to the bottom line. “Does it work?” you are asking. To the point: Maybe. It has some downsides but overall, I didn’t snore.

It worked for me, but your mileage may vary. I know one thing, I am not going to wear this every night, the reasons why are below.

Likes/Dislikes

Likes:

• Low cost (if I mess it up, I can get another pretty cheap and fast)
• Easy to prepare
• It worked!

Dislikes:

• Dry mouth – since you have to sleep with your mouth you must also breathe through your mouth, and my mouth was alway dry
• Gross to look at – seriously, even in the blue case, this thing is creepy looking.
• Drool – I know, I know.

Summary

Overall, I think the Snore Mouthpiece Mouth Piece – Anti Snore Device Sleep Aid Snore Guard is a great short-term solution to MY snoring.The cost was low, so if it doesn’t work for you, you won’t be out a lot of money. I give it a thumbs up!

Please be sure to consult a physician if you have severe snoring problems or are worried about Sleep Apnea.

Tips

As promised, a few tips.

• Follow the directions!
• Don’t put the Anti-snore Mouthpiece in boiling water. Take it off the heat for 20 seconds, then drop it in.
• Don’t leave it in the hot water for more than 18-20 seconds, or you will have a nice ball of clear goo.
• Once in your mouth, push out all the air and press it to your mouth with your hands on your cheeks
• Don’t bite down, just gently and comfortably close your mouth.
• You can re-heat the Anti-snore Mouthpiece , but it will never be as good as your first attempt, so try to get it right.

Have you caught the new Kia Soul car commercial that has the dancing Gerbils? This is the more bizarre commercial I’ve seen in a long time!

It starts with Terminator style robots fighting, or maybe Halo soldiers like Master Chief, and then this lime green, maybe neon green Kia Soul pulls up, and then the Gerbils drive up (maybe they are Hamsters) hop out and the lead hampster yells “Party Rock” then break it on down!

The lyrics of the song tells us

Party rock is in the house tonight
Everybody just have a good time
And we gonna make you lose your mind
Everybody just have a good time

So who sings the music? Read on for more!
