I have to admit, I had never seen Fox’s “Raising Hope” until I happened on the season finale by accident.I think once I met Drakkar Noir and saw the spit fight with the llama, I was hooked.

Nevermind that I knew none of the characters and the finale was essentially a prequel/flashback to before the series began, I still loved it. But I digress, the point is, what was the song at the end, at the birthday party for Maw Maw? Read on…

The song is “Home” [ or  Amazon] by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros from the “Up From Below” album. While is has been out a while, it has been used a lot recently, also appearing in “Ugly Betty,” “Community” and countless commercials – not bad for a song released in 2009!

I knew ABC would cancel “Invasion” before I even watched it. I always hesitate to watch a new drama, since so few make it to Season 2.

But since I loved Shaun Cassidy’s “American Gothic” I had to go for it. Creepy sherrif and a small town, that is what Shawn does best!

Sure enough, it got cancelled. Even left us with a cliffhanger. Thankfully, TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello spoke with Tyler Labine (who played Larkin’s blogger/slacker brother Dave) and here is what he said:

…Now, while I was talking to Tyler Labine about Boston Legal, the Chatty Cathy shared with me a personal conversation he had with series creator Shaun Cassidy about what would have happened during Season 2 of Invasion. True, I wasn’t exactly the most religious Invasion viewer, but I know big scoop when I hear it: “Shaun told me Larkin was going to [be presumed dead]. I was going to get all militant and shave my head, and Russell and I were going to join forces against Tom. Tom was going to find out that his first wife was actually alive, and she was running this whole military operation, and she was Szura’s boss.” That’s big scoop, right?

I can’t say I feel much better knowing that. I still think I wasted my time.

This season, I taking on ZERO new shows. None. Nada. Zilch.

We’ll see how that goes.

While I like the “Stripes All Around” commercial better, (and the music – which I talk about here) the new Old navy commercial called “New Naturals” has some pretty good music in it also.

I almost ashamed to even post this, because it took zero research on my part. When I first heard the music in the intro of ABC’s “SuperNanny” I knew right away the song title and the artists.

Wanna know more?

The song is “Be Good, Johnny” by none other than Men At Work. you can find it on “Business as Usual.” Oddly, none of the original Men at Work songs are on iTunes. But you can get Colin Hay (original lead singers) doing new versions of the classic hits on “Man @ Work.”

I’d stick with their 2 hit albums “Business as Usual” and “Cargo,” anything past these were not as good.

This band was my first exposure to Australia. I had never heard the term “Down Under” before, but when they asked “Do You Come From A Land Down Under?” I figured it out. I tell you, Men At Work had some great songs. Too bad they didn’t last, but it sure made growing up in the 80s a lot of fun.

Besides, how else would I have learned about Vegimite?

My ears always perk up when I hear the opening chords of the music used on the Wal-Mart “hidden smileys” commercial. It has smiles hidden throughout , much like the Cingular “bars” commercials. I sure you’ve seen it. The lyrics are something like:

What is ours …
is golden …

in the moment …

I can’t direct you to a song download or purchase, because it was created just for the commercial. It is not available for purchase.

But here are a few things I do know:

The commercial was produced by Bernstein-Rein Advertising. View the commercial on their site under: the work>clients>wal-mart.

The female vocalist is Bernie Barlow. She has confirmed this on her forums, so yes, it is Bernie singing. Her husband John performs the music. Again, there is nothing at all about a full version of the song ever being released. I suppose you could post a request there.

That’s the best I can do for ya.
