Music Heard in Kohl's Commercial: La La La La La La La

I barely caught the end of this commercial, so I don't have all the details. But it was for Kohls and I saw a woman in a black and white dress walking in ain a field.

And what caught my ear was the music!

IAnd I ride and I ride
I ride through the citys backside
I see the stars come out of the sky
Yeah, theyre bright in a hollow sky
You know it looks so good tonight
I am the passenger
I stay under glass
I look through my window so bright
I see the stars come out tonight
I see the bright and hollow sky
Over the citys a rip in the sky
And everything looks good tonight
Singin la la la la la-la-la la
La la la la la-la-la la
La la la la la-la-la la la-la

Right, that is Iggy Pop's "The Passenger" from the Lust for Life album. Iggy Pop - Lust for Life - The Passenger Now I am not sure if it was the Iggy Pop original, or the re-make by R.E.M. (a rare, B-side live track, found on the CD "At My Most Beautiful"). There was another by Siouxsie and the Banshees (on 'Twice upon a Time - The Singles"), but it wasn't them. Siouxsie and The Banshees - Twice upon a Time - The Singles - The Passenger

My money's on it being Iggy in the Khols commercial. Either way, it was pretty weird hearing an Iggy Pop song on a department store commercial.

Here's the Iggy version:

You can hear the REM version in this BMX video:

...and finally, the Siouxsie verion:

Thanks a lot for posting this! (I knew I was right - that it was Iggy Pop!)

I work at Kohls and am a fan of Iggy. With this song and the "Lust for Life" cover on commercials, I would say Iggy has sold out!

The song repeats every half hour at Kohls. Even if it was a favorite song, its ruined now.

There's also another version of this song, very well done I might add - it doesn't sound quite the same - darker, heavier rock - it's on the Batman Returns soundtrack. It's Passenger, same lyrics and everything. Sounds a lot better than all but Iggy's version.

what a joke, another year of this company comming out with another non original marketing strategy, chaps, now vera, and theres no place like kohls? Not even the WIZ is safe... nor is the good music of the world, whatever kohls.... proving once again, you care more about making money, that your employees

There is a brand new Kohl's commercial out - its hard to understand what she is singing (the words) but its a slow, more romantic song and its being played when he is presenting her with some jewlery. It plays a lot on fox and WB - and its not the Delovely song, it's very slow and romantic but hard to hear the words
