At the moment, in my free time, since I don't have "the internets" at home, I am trying to learn how to edit a DVD movie. Or rather, re-edit a DVD movie.
Why? Because there are so many great movies, that with a few edits, would be so "kid-friendly."
Take, for example, "Back to the Future."
Within the first 15 minutes, there are several "sh!t" utterances, and quite a few J.C.'s too. Not to mention the Lybians gunning down Doc Brown. I just can't help but think if I could edit out some of that, it might be a great movie to show to anyone under 10.
It has been a while, but I am pretty sure "Sea Buscuit" needs a few minor edits. Otherwise, it would make for a great movie for children. Now, I know many parents don't worry about such words or violence, but I guss I am a little over-protective about those things.
So, I am looking at software that allows me to edit and re-build these DVDs. So far, I am just in the "reading about it" stage, but it looks possible. Once I have tried some programs and have it down pat, I will get a tutorial written up.
How about you? What movies, with a few minor edits, would make for great family viewing? What scenes would you edit? Let's get a lis going!

Home Alone. I remember saying, "Oh, my son should be old enough to appreciate the slapstick humor in this one." We turned it off ten minutes into the movie. Good thing it was boring to him.
