"Drums on Fox" was the name of one of the tracks on a CD FOX sent out to its affiliate TV stations back in 1994. Along with the musical variations FOX Image Campaign for that season, were alternate versions of the theme. They also sent out a CD for the now famous, but then brand new, "NFL on FOX" theme (ba-dum da-da-daaa, ba-dum, da-da-daaa). As much as I loved that powerful theme, I liked the cut named "Drums on Fox" the best.
It was nothing more than a very catchy Drum Cadence. They actually got a high school or college band to play this composition and sent it out as a bonus to the FOX stations on one of the two CDs (can't recall now). It just was the most rockin' cadence I'd ever heard (not that I'd heard that many).
Sadly, I didn't think to make a cassette copy before I left (back then only recording studios had CD burners). I wish I had that whole CD now, even though I couldn't legally use any of the music, I'd love to listen to it.
Oddly enough, I could not find out (via Google) who composed the "NFL on FOX" theme. I was going to credit them but since the composition was work for hire by a music production company, there may not be any one person to credit.
BTW, the reason I loved that cut is it reminded me of Marching Band. My favorite part was the drum cadence that the drum corps would play between songs as we marched. I can still hear the sounds in my mind.
So I am looking forward to watching "Drumline" which should have plenty of Drum Cadences in it. I think this is a solo rental because I just couldn't get m'Lady convinced to spend time watching this one ("It's about a contest between drum corps, yeah, looks really fun, remember 'Bring It On?' Kinda like that but with drums instead of cheerleaders...."). Gee, wonder why I couldn't interest her in that one?

It's actually a pretty interesting DVD if you're into drum cadence. Make sure you have enough time for the deleted scenes.
You should see if there's a DCI (Drum Corp International) show in your area. I go every year to the one here in Houston and it's always great.
Can you tell I marched the bass drum once upon a time? :) One of my proudest moments is still winning the state UIL competion. We were so good.
