Hot Bargain: Star Wars II DVD only $9.99

I scored a great deal and wanted to pass along the news.

Toys 'R' Us has Star Wars Episode II:AOTC for a mere $9.99 "while supplies last." That's the key phrase, because most likely they are all gone by now. But don't give up hope! Some Wal-Marts have lowered their price to match TRU's - some have not - YMMV.

However, you can still get it for $9.99! Just go into Toys 'R' Us and get this weeks sales flier. Then truck it on over to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, or Blockbuster Video. All of these stores have a Price Match gurantee.

Now this mission is not for the weak or faint of heart. It is no easy feat to confront a cashier and ask for a Price Match. Most of them have never done it, and when they see the price you want versus what they are selling it for, they may even hassle you. In most cases, you will probably wind up talking to the manager.

But be brave my friends. This is an incredible savings.

Last night I went to one Blockbuster and the manager really busted my chops on it. He even made the poor cashier call a local TRU and ask them if they really were selling it for that much (even though he had seen the flier I brought in!). She got a phone book, looked it up and called. Meanwhile the Dickweed manager is blind to the fact that a line had formed behind me while he was trying to save his store $10. Yes, that is correct, while she did his piddly ass bidding he had literally turned his back on the check-out line. And did I ever hear some disgruntled "huffing" behind me. I didn't care, it wasn't my problem, but to save a puny $10 he created a line of irate huffy-puffy customers. Clueless. Totally clueless.

Turns out the TRU associate was a bit too loose lipped when she asked about the deal. The TRY person said they only had "fullscreen" versions left, so when the Blockbuster gal told her boss, the pissant manager told he would only sell ME the fullscreen version. "It says while supplies last so since they are out we are only matching what they have." Creep. If the TRU associate had just said "yes that is the price" she would not have asked if they had any left. Needless to say I walked out and left the dear girl to deal with the line Mister WhiskerBuscuit had created. Gee, was all that really worth it just to take a stand?

So that is my point - expect resistance.

But since there are 2 Blockbusters on the way home I tried again. This time it was SO EASY! These folks were so laid back it was amazing. She sales woman simply called someone on the phone (I was hoping it wasn't the manager I just dealt with) and asked how to do one. She did it in about 3 minutes. No calls to TRU. No hassles. I walked out with my $9.99 DVD and a smile - and a big fat "Up Yours" to the Blockbuster Manager Dipstick.

Again, not all Blockbusters are the same. It depends on the person you are dealing with. I am sure BestBuy and Wal-Mart are the same way, it depends on who is helping you and whether they want to hassle you or not.

Personally, I love it. I love going in and informing them of their policy to Price Match and watching them freak when they see the difference. I love confronting the managers. I like the back and forth of it all.

Just be sure to go to TRU and take the Ad with you, it won't work without it. Be sure to act clueless as to whether TRU has them in stock. Just say I saw the ad in the paper but I like to shop here.

Good luck, and please, please come back and share your experiences!

But hurry, I think the ad ends this weekend.

I got mine at Wal-mart for 10 bucks but I had to listen to too many damn screaming kids in line.
My review of the DVD is here

Hey there. Hmmmm...I wanna try doing that sometime! Ok..here in Canada though we don't have stores like TRU! We have Blockbust..which is awsome for a selection, HMV, Music World and a few other's! Would going into those kind of stores
(besides Blockbuster) also work, since they sell music also? Just curious!
Congrat's, though, on the awsome deal!
*hugz*

We payed $26 CDN yesterday at Walmart up here in Canada for that DVD. Damn... $9 sounds way too good to be true!

Just come through my line... Always happy to price match. Heck... I give price matches without the customer even asking sometimes. If I know it is cheaper somewhere else and the customer is a regular of mine, I inform them of the cheaper price and just give it to them. Shhh... don't tell my boss. LOL

I watched the Director Commentary track yesterday and GEORGE LUCAS MENTIONED KEVIN SMITH DISCUSSION OF BLOWING UP THE DEATH STAR IN THE MOVIE CLEARKS. I almost peed myself
