I figured it out. If I sculpt something from a photo, it takes forever because I am trying to get it to look very much like the original subject. I just spend too much time on it and get bored.
But if I create from my imagination, it always looks like it should. So, last night I decided to try an original creation. I had no idea setting out what it would be, but as I finished a foot, I thought it looked like a female's boot. So from there, I just went with the flow. And below, you can see the results: Clay Gal!

One lump of clay and 2 hours later, there she was.
I think I did better on the proportions this time. Like I said before, it has been over 12 years since I sculpted anything, so I am a bit rusty. But I am happy with the results. I think I am most pleased about the fact that she can stand up and balance with no need of support. I think I got it right!
Sadly, to make this possible, Clay Guy had to be harvested.
Sorry Moby.
I'd like to have given her more detail, but maybe I can work that in on the next one.

Wow... she looks great. I like the wind detail in her hair and clothes.
Hey, I like clay gal - she's pretty cool. I like the technique you used for her hair; it really gives it life and movement. :) At first glance, poor clay guy looks like a fella in a washtub, maybe one who hadn't bathed in so long he disintigrated as soon as he seated himself in there.
Clay Gal is definitely groovy looking! I don't know why, but seeing Clay Guy canned just made me laugh!
mmmooobbbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.......
and for what? Boobs! Dang it!
