September 25, 2007Music Heard in Honda Accord Commercial: Hold On Tight To Your DreamsSeen the commercial for All new Ultra Low Emission Honda Accord? It has the car driving past moving images of fish, trains, rocket cars, home movies, a guy dancing in the office, a couple at the beach and so on. The commercial ends with the tag line "the perfect car isn't about the road, but rather, everything beyond it." All to the lyrics: oooh yeah That was "Hold On Tight" According to Wikipedia, "Hold On Tight" was also used in an Ameriquest commercial, as well as the season finale of "My Name Is Earl" Here's the original ELO music video if you'd like to see it. file this under Music Heard InPosted by on September 25, 2007 @ September 25, 2007 10:00 PM 43 folks had something to say |

Posted by: A, Sevigny at October 8, 2007 2:40 PMI noticed this song in the Honda commercial several weeks ago, and have been wanting to know who recorded it. It immediately caught my attention, probably more than the car. I never heard it before, but really liked it. Thanks for your information.

Posted by: tom carr at October 10, 2007 10:45 PMHi,
Everyone seems so knowledgeable in music I thought someone might be able to tell me what was the title of the song that started off the first show of the new season on Dancing With The Stars? The professional dancers did a jive number to the music. Help! Thanks
I dream about that song. It just does something to you! Who is the artist? Love it ! Love it!
Posted by: Martha Woods at October 11, 2007 9:49 AMWho was the original recorder???

Posted by: Joy at October 16, 2007 8:54 AMI was really going to go offer to buy a new Honda if they would include the CD with purchase! I love the commercial and the music (I am an old lady)

Posted by: Bob at November 1, 2007 10:20 PMfor once a commercial that isnt obnoxious and i love. what a wonderful song for an old guy like me. thanks very much, you sure did your good deed and i wish you the very best.
Posted by: phil at November 7, 2007 12:03 PMI also was taken with the music and the commercial, so much so, that I spent 4 days and numerious telephone calls to contact the marketing executive at Honda and the advertising agency that was responsible for the commercial.
Both were so very nice and so astonished that I would go to that much trouble to let them know how much I loved it. Everything comes to a standstill at my house when the commercial comes on. I like all 4 versions. Just sorry that I don't need a new car or I would run right out and buy me a new Honda accord.
love the song! don't like hondas. thanks for letting us know who recorded it!
Posted by: anne at November 9, 2007 9:36 PMThank you so much for getting this out there. Ever since i heard the Honda comercial,it has been driving - No Pun Intended - me nuts. I am also an older lady and remember hearing this song long ago. It has brought back many memories and lifts my spirits every time I hear it. Thank you bunches. It took me a lot of phone calls and internet looking to finally find you and the song. It's also amazing how many Honda Dealerships don't know or have even heard of the song or who sings it. I was given a lot of wrong info. I held on tight to my dream of find it. YeeeeeeHaw!

It takes me back in time. I am an old lady and about all I have is my dreams.
I searched all last night to find this song. I too am an early Boomer and love this song. I must have missed it when my kids were listening to it when first released. Makes you want to put the top down and forget your real age! Thanks so much
Posted by: Susan at November 21, 2007 8:17 PMI love that song! I may be 55, but I am NOT old! "Old" is a state of mind! Even my Dad is 86 years "young"!

Thanks for the info; 20/20 hindsight . . . yeah it's definitely ELO - the video is AWESOME !!!!
Posted by: nelson at February 9, 2008 8:18 PMI may be the oldest here -- 63 -- and I long ago took this song as my life's theme. I've told all my friends that I'd like it played at my memorial service, as the very last number (not that I'm planning on going anytime soon). I want people to leave with a toe-tappin', finger-snappin' message of hope. Judging from other people's responses to the Honda commercial, I guess I've got the right idea.
Posted by: Sue at February 12, 2008 1:43 PMThank you, thank you, thank you!!! I have watched the Honda commercial and kept saying that I was going to search the internet to learn who did the vocal. I just love the music.
Posted by: Marcella at February 13, 2008 1:37 PMI just love this song... very heart warming, it brings tears to my eyes, and a smile on my face very moving... Go Honda
Posted by: b at February 15, 2008 9:52 PMI love the hold on to your dreams song in the Honda commercial. I am in the web sight now but do not see the name of the singer or group anywhere. If you would reveal his name, we would all be very grateful and maybe even purchase a Honda. As a past Honda owner I can attest for their quality. Kathy
Thanks from me to you! The song sticks in your brain all right. I knew I'd heard it before, but was astonished to find it was performed by ELO so long ago. Yikes!
Posted by: Craig at February 21, 2008 9:15 PMBeautiful, beautiful song--outstanding!
