February 06, 2007Music Heard in Coke Super Bowl commercial: Give A Little LoveYou saw the "Grand Theft Auto" parody commercial from Coca-Cola that was in the Superbowl? Did you think the song sounded familiar? If you were a kid in 1976, you probably did. So, who did the music? Sounded like a broadway cast musical number, didn't it? Well, it was ... sort of. Want to see the commercial, and learn about the music? Read On... Now, I admit I am not sure which version of the song is in the commercial, but I think it is from the original soundtrack. Which sadly is an import CD, and out of print too. However, the London Cast recording is on iTunes if you prefer There is also one from 1998 by the National Youth Music Theater which is available at Amazon. I saw "Bugsy Malone: in the theater and Jodie Foster and Scott Baio were the stars (when they were kids). The "Bugsy Malone" DVD is available, but only if your DVD player can support movies from Region 2. It isn't available in the USA at this time. My only gripe about this commercial, it wasn't new. It had aired a long time before the Super Bowl. Still, it deserved the kudos for being so original. Props to Wieden & Kennedy Portland, the masterminds behind the spot. And after all that, you may want to see the actual commercial - here 'tis! file this under Music Heard InPosted by on February 6, 2007 @ February 6, 2007 11:37 PM 0 folks had something to say |
