March 13, 2006Music Heard in Old Navy Commercial - Clap Clap Daddyo Jump Jump Daddio Shake Shake Daddy-oA very fun, very retro-sounding song pulses through the 2006 Old Navy "Stripes All Around" commercial. Blue, blue, the sky is blue. The grass is green and your heart is true. Can't get it out of your head? Then maybe you'd like to download it, hmmmm? A visit to Old Navy.com had a video where you can watch the Old Navy commercial and names the musical artists. The track features music by Behavior and vocals by Andrea Revel. But Old Navy does not link to the song download. Their collaboration is called "Clap! Shake! Jump!" and is part of the Old Navy commercial ""Stripes All Around." But I know where you can get it. Yes, you can download a 2:00 version MP3 for free at either Revel's or Behavior's site. A longer version will show up in April on iTunes but is not there yet (it is funny to note that on each site, the artist says they are "featuring" the other). In the meantime, you can buy music by Behavior and/or Andrea Revel at CDbaby (a great place, I've shopped there before, easy). Posted by: me at March 17, 2006 2:55 PMI too love this song. I searched on google and found the link on a blog. The song is from "Behavior". you can view the commercial and sample the whole song from here: http://www.behaviormusic.com/oldnavy.htm
Posted by: James Dorsey at March 17, 2006 11:38 PMUm thanks James, but didn't I just say all that in my post? Maybe you missed it.

And the song is not by Behavior, it is a collaboration between Behavior AND Andrea Revel.
Enjoy the tune anyway.
Posted by: Promo at March 18, 2006 12:02 PMI cringe everytime I hear this commercial. Cookie-cutter men and women dancing to "daddio, daddio" makes me want to take a gun and open my mouth. I'm an advertising art director. I've been concerned about the music/soundtracks we use as directors and this is one that has annoyed a lot of people. Other than the fact that they overplay it. Kind of like the Circuit City commericals.

Posted by: Mikayla at March 23, 2006 12:32 AMOh that's hilarious! From the post that says..
"I'm an advertising art director."
Uh, yeah, sure you are. If you were in advertising, you would realize what an earworm is. A song that gets in the brain and replays it's message over and over. Making the customer think about the product, over and over. And if you were in advertising, you would understand this nugget is pure gold.
Posted by: Kevin at March 23, 2006 12:47 AMAn advertising art director. Bet you do GREAT graphics but you're off the mark on the music part if you do that, too. I'm lead singer of a local band and we are so doing that song. When it makes me get up and want to dance...THAT'S a good little song.
Posted by: Michelle at March 23, 2006 5:18 PMi do like this song because it reminds me of another group and i like the vocals. however, it does NOT in any way, shape or form make me want to buy commerically over-marketed clothes like those of old navy.
and as for advertising...there's a good and bad type of ad. song, the good kind is catchy and makes you hum it or it justs sticks with you and you like that.
the bad type is catchy, but so much so that it's annoying and makes you want to jam a pencil in your ear to close the hearing canal so you never have to hear it again.
luckily, this song is the first type. and believe me, people can tell the difference.
I thought it sounded familiar... I had heard 'the clapping song' before and always wondered what the hell they were saying! then this old navy add had new lyrics and led me to find the original... thx
Posted by: m at March 23, 2006 8:57 PMI love the song, too! Its catchy, it makes the product and the store stick in your head which is what advertisizing is supposed to do. To the art director who is the one negative on the site, you ad executive have been out of touch with the American public for years.
Posted by: Dwayne Boyd at March 24, 2006 4:09 PMThanks for the link. It's a great song.I don't watch a lot of TV so I can't comment on it being overplayed but I think Old Navy hit this one out of the park. Thanks again.
Posted by: Ray at March 25, 2006 1:01 PMThis song stops my 11 month old boy in his tracks. He stops playing, crying sleeping whatever to see and hear that commercial. Thanks for the info!
