February 07, 2006DEVO 2.0 - The New(er) TraditionalistsA Kidz Bop version of Devo - can the rapture be far behind? I joyfully admit I was a big DEVO fan, I even have the red dome hat from their "Oh, No!" concert I attended (my step-Mother took me, suprised me the night of the concert with tickets, way to win over a grumpy step-son!). But now DEVO is grooming a new band for the next generation. n this Billboard article, original DEVO band member Jerry Cassale talks about casting the "Teen DEVO." The family friendly album from Disney Sound will be available with on DVD March 14th 2006. Hey if the A-Teens I think the best part of this is that the songs I grew up loving are going to be enjoyed by a brand new generation (who probably never heard of DEVO). I also love that the original band is behind this, loving every minute of it. True, the irony of most of the songs is lost (such as "Beautiful World" but that happened years ago when Target used that song to sell housewares), but those of us who know the "real" lyrics can smirk because we know better. Visit Devo2-0.com to listen (and laugh). Or order it at Amazon.com. Can't wait for the Mall Tours to begin!
