February 1, 2005More Cowbell!It seems that Blue Oyster Cult are fans of the Saturday Night Live Skit wherein Christopher Walken pleads for "More Cowbell" during the recording of "Don't Fear The Reaper." I thought that this was a great skit, but I had no idea it had blossomed into internet wildfire. Plus, you have Walken, the patron saint of the cowbell. Walken is my all time favorite SNL host, I had no idea that sketch had gotten such a following either. I was just reading the preview for the Best of Christopher Walken SNL dvd and they even make reference to it speficially.
I've always liked his "The Continental" sketches
I don't watch SNL much anymore, but that skit is a standout among all they have produced in recent years. My husband and I laugh hysterically every time we see it (its also included on the Best of Will Farrell/SNL DVD - I think Vol. 1)
Christopher Walken is brilliant in just about everything he does.
