Today I quizzed down T-Mo (T-Mobile) about my new C-phone and all it can do.

As you may recall, for re-upping my contract for another year, I got a new phone.

Now, to many of you that may be no big deal. But I've always felt like you should never have to pay for a basic cellular phone. Of course, if you want a camera and all those other fancy-doo things, then sure. But for a basic phone, those should be free. Right?

Well, it isn't always that easy, but after threatening to switch to ATT, they gave in and sent me this great Nokia 3595 color phone! Again, I would love a camera-phone that I could use to send to a photoblog, but times are tough and free is the right price for me (plus, aren't those services extra?).

BTW, the 3595 looks a lot like the ATT Nokia 3560, doesn't it? Don't be fooled though. Even though the 3650 has a higher number, it has no WAP browser (well, the ATT version doesn't seem to).

So, what does it do? You can read the specs, but the things I appreciate are: it is in color, it plays polyphonic ringtones, it vibrates, it has java games, you can customize the wallpaper, and you can download ringtones. Sweet!

T-Mo told me that I had fee internet access on as part of all their plans. Really? Well, turns out to be true. After quizzing down the T-Mo CS rep today, I learned many things. So, if you have T-Mo, then you might be interested to know:

* If your phone has a WAP browser built in, then you can surf the web at no charge.
* Surfing does NOT count against your minutes in your plan. View as much as you want, for no charge.
* Downloading ringtones or images from T-Mo will incur a charge.
* Downloading these from other sites do not result in a charge (unless that site charges for them).
* Sending and receiving email and text messages do result in a charge.
* Using a web-based email inbox (like Mail2web.com/wap) will not, because it is considered a web page (and thus, is free). So that way, you can check your Domain email or any POP3 inbox.
* Your email address is YourNumber@tmo.com, but you need T-Zones to get and send.
* The T-Zone add-on service is not needed unless you are sending text or email messages, or messages with data (like images).

Pretty cool, eh? I didn't know all that before today. Now I am just SO in love with T-Mobile that I can hardly contain myself. I mean, how many other providers would nickel-and-dime you to death for all of that? Most of them, ATT would for sure.

Some other interesing details about the Nokia 3595:
* Wallpaper should be sized 95x65 (WxH)
* It is at the top of the Series 30 phone
* It has Polyphonic Level 4 (can play playback 4 simultaneous notes)
* The Polyphonic tones included with the phone make it Vibrate to the music! Very, very cool!
* Not all Poluphonic tones will vibrate when played, only those that are SP MIDI ringtones might (SP=Scalable Polyphonic).

Should that mean anything to you? I dunno, it did to me. Might be useful to you at some point.
