August 28, 2003SoBig, So annoyingI am so sick of getting bounced mail messages telling me I've sent out mail with somenamehere.PIF!!! Someone, or lots of someones, had my PromoGuy.net address in their address book, got this dang virus, and it has been spoofing my domain ever since. I am pretty sure this is what is keeping me from reading my domain email. Hopefully the Help Desk will be able to give me a way to block these bounced messages on the server side before they even get to me. We'll see. I've added "forwarders" so the Comment Notifications will be sent to my temporary "PromoGuyRocks AT Yahoo.com" address. Please use that (for now) if you want to contact me. McAfee has made available a Free SoBig removal tool. Now that is awesome! ArtPlus has one too called xTerminator. Of course, it does no good if the person who has the infected computer never uses it. file this under RantsPosted by on August 28, 2003 @ August 28, 2003 09:23 AM 1 folks had something to say |
That Stinger is very effective. I had my clients running it for the last three days for the SoBig and Nachi viruses. Since no one else commented I'll explain why Norton and McAfee are not catching it. These viruses run in the background as an EXE file that is created when the virus hits the system. Since it's running the other anti-virus program won't stop the process. Stinger does. Even if you have up to date virus programs I still recommend running Stinger.
