WOW! Aside from the cool factor, I'm really amazed Starbucks is doing this. We did some research on their brand at my job, and one of the things they specifically do not do (or at least they didn't used to) is have drive-ups. I guess the idea was to force people to go INTO the store to "experience" their brand. They had a whole philosophy about their brand definition... for example - I don't think I've ever seen a TV ad - and only recenlty have I seen magazine ads - and even then, only for their products that they sell in grocery stores. Their stores are their advertisements... Really interesting that they're changing that approach. Their success to date has been so strong - I wonder whether this change in plans will be for the good or bad...
(I know a little bit too much about Starbucks considering I don't even work there!! LOL! The words crazed fan comes to mind.)
Posted by: Jennifer at April 13, 2003 8:41 AMI haven't visited here for quite a while, and the first thing I see upon arriving is a little Starbucks photo series. I took an almost identical series of pictures a couple weeks ago at a Fazoli's! The store, menu, chick at drive through, and my food. Very weird!
Posted by: Sunidesus at April 14, 2003 1:27 AMHere in the cowlands, we have 2 drive-thru CharBucks that I can think of, and they've been here for at least 2 years.
Then again, we're a test market for almost everything. I remember a few years ago the McDonalds carried McCarrot Sticks on the menu, I kid you not.

Posted by: Lynn R. at April 14, 2003 9:15 AMDon't make me jealous. Now I'm going to have to stop and get myself one on the way home....and have to get out of my stinkin' car and go in the place. :( Pout.
Posted by: kimmie at April 14, 2003 1:41 PMOMG! I want the inflatable latte for my front yard! I am laughing so damn hard!!!
We have few drive-thrus out here, but only in busy areas where there's another Starbucks within a certain mile radius.
Hot damn, I love my company!
