March 3, 2003Spot OnThis post would be the inspiration for Monday Mission 3.09's question #1. I decided to save the post for a bit and put it up after I wrote the MM. So here now are TV commercials I've really enjoyed this year: Saturn Ion - "Childhood" For those wondering (or searching in Google) the song in the spot is "We've Been Had" by The Walkmen. You can get the entire MP3 here, just click the giant MP3 banner. The second commercial, "High School," features "Forever Young" by Alphaville. A great 80's song that sounds not at all like it is 19 years old. You can get it here at Amazon (note that this CD has the extended version with bonus lyrics - whee!) Saturn - "Cars Picking People" Target - "Swell" series Cingular - "Talk Talk" Target - "Targeting Spring" Lugz - "Lugz Driving Shoes" Evian Water - "Rock You" Hyundai - "Shut Up" Ariel - "Ideal Husbands" Posted by on March 3, 2003 @ March 3, 2003 12:15 PM 3 folks had something to say |
I have seen all of the Saturn spots for the new Ion. Every time they come on, I feel pretty sad afterwards. I reflect back on those days, and WANT to make that U-Turn. I see myself in those ads…looking through the passenger side window as life passes me by. I guess it goes back to…I don’t want to grow up. Geezer, while I have been living the ‘adult’ life for a few years, it still does not mean I have to act like one all of the time. But I don’t feel like buying a new car will help me relive some of those past memories or even future ones. Overall, the spots are quality…but they may need to adjust the product…how about Kleenex?
Posted by: Julie at March 3, 2003 9:02 PMThe Forever Young commercial makes me laugh because of that one guy "dancing" by holding his foot. Strange, that Alphaville song was the prom theme at my friend's high school in 87 or 88. Ours was Stairway to Heaven, despite the fact that it was 87. At least we had Lean on Me for Homecoming.
Posted by: cordle at March 4, 2003 7:10 AMwhat is the name of the song playing in the "cars picking people" ad? I'm pretty sure it's from the 70's, but I know nothing else...
