February 17, 2003Monday MissionatedPrepare for a very rare event....PromoGuy joins this week's Monday Mission. I think Hell just froze over! PromoGuy's Monday Mission 3.071. For me, breakfast usually consists of a bagel and cream cheese. And I wait until about 10AM to eat it, mostly to avoid eating a mid-morning snack. What do you like to eat for breakfast? Do you even eat breakfast? Asked and answered. 2. Back in 1990, I worked at a radio station in the Promotions Department. Our office was directly below the DJ booth. One day there was this thundering bass booming from upstairs. It was just a huge booming sound, with an amazing beat. My manager and I bolted out of the office and up the stairs to the production room. When we opened the door I was smacked in the body by a wall of sound. What I heard reminded me of "Super Freak" but the bass was thumping like I'd never heard before. Then the vocals began, it was a "rap" I would never forget: "My, my, my music hits me so hard, makes me say 'Oh, My Lord, thank you for blessin' me, with a mind to rhyme and two hyped feet.'" The song was MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" and it blew my mind. What was the song that "blew your mind" and is etched in your brain forever? Recall the moment and why it remains in your mind. Ditto. 3. Do you like to gamble? Have you ever won (or lost) big? Don't care for gambling one bit. I like to save my money, I'm not a big risk-take when it comes to my hard-earned cash. However, I love Vega$ and all the excess for which it stands. 4. Some people find comfort for their troubled mind in food. Others find it in music or books. What do you turn to for comfort when you are troubled or worried? My art. Well, these days it is Television. It should be my faith. I am still trying to get my priorities straight. Maybe after sweeps I can get back on track. 5. When was the last time you felt apathetic? What was it about? Last week while on Jury duty. I just didn't care and wanted nothing more than to get out of there. I was bored beyond belief during the jury selection process. It took 2 days before they decided that I wasn't someone they wanted on the jury. I could have told them that on day one! 6. I just read that Google bought Pyra Labs (Blogger.com). Although Blogging was going "mainstream" before this, it most certainly will now have greater exposure, and one assumes, bring us even more Bloggers. Is this a good thing? Hard to say, one one hand it could give a wider selection of the internet community the chance to discover and learn about Blogging. It certainly is good for Pyra! But on the other hand, I've got more than enough blogs to read as it is! However, that would also mean new readers might visit this site (and join the MM). In a way, it is like your favorite garage band being discovered and hearing them played on the radio. It takes some of the "special-ness" away from something that you felt was shared among a smaller crowd. But nah, it isn't the end of the world. If anything changes at all, it will probably mean more innovation and a lot of fresh content. 7. What did you do with all your freetime before you blogged?* Downloaded files and MP3s like a maniac. These days, I download less, blog less, and play games almost not at all. I love blogging and the interaction we have in the comments, but I am just not as prolific or deep (emotionally) as I would like to be. Other bloggers eclipse me easily, and I've come to accept that. But thankfully, you keep stopping by now and then, and that makes it worthwhile. That's why I still keep at it. (winks at you) Thanks! *Question provided by Rhonda. file this under Mission CompletedPosted by on February 17, 2003 @ February 17, 2003 09:55 AM 4 folks had something to say |
