August 9, 2002You say Crayon, I say CrayolaOh man! How cool is this? Have you seen the Crayola Crayon Maker? What a fun idea. Broken crayons are a given when you have children, but now you can do somthing fun with them - make new ones! You just take the crayon bits and put them in the slots, a light bulb heats them up and you pour them into the molds. Fun, fun! Makes me wanna be a kid again. Hey my sister-in-law bought that! She teachers kindergarten and of course has LOTS of broken, short, and old crayons --- she said its REALLY cool. You can melt all the same color, of course, or you can try and make new colors. Really neat idea!
Posted by: lacy at August 9, 2002 4:04 PMIt's a great idea, but sounds like poor execution. The one review on the Amazon link doesn't give it a sparkling review. I think we can make our own crayons if we got the right molds, and used our own heat source... maybe something the heats a little more evenly? Any ideas?
Posted by: courtney at August 9, 2002 7:35 PMThat thing looks so cool... but we haven't gotten that far yet with the crayons. We're still at the stage of ME doing most of the drawings for her :-/ One thing they have that is pretty cool - have you seen those wonder markers? If your kid tries to draw on themselves (or another individual) ;-) with them, the ink shows up clear.. it only turns into a color on their special paper...
