Back in 2004, I had 2 posts on the show on this topic: TV Shows Thats Should Be on DVD, But Aren’t. (read here and here)

I thought it might be fun to re-visit that list and see if any of my wishes came true:

The Flash – Just this year, this boxed set became available. In fact, azon informs me that it should arrive by Friday. Awesome!

Nothern Exposure – This was a fun show, but now that it is really on DVD, I have to admit that I can’t see myself owning it. But, it IS finally out on DVD so that qualifies it to be removed from the original list of DVD wants.

The Critic – Yes, another favorite is now available. I don’t have this one yet, but it is a long-range goal of mine.

American Gothic – Also now available. Shaun Cassidy has a thing for creepy Sherrifs and Small Towns with secrets (I love INVASION too). Need to get this one soon.

Amazing Stories: The Family Dog – Looks like I may get my wish, since the entire first season of this “Amazing” Spielberg TV show will be out in 2006. Sadly, “Family Dog” was part of Season Two, so I may have a long wait on this one. At least I have the VHS to get me by. Hey, by the way, “Family Dog” came from the mind of Brad Bird, who went on to produce “The Simpsons,” “The Incredibles,” and “Iron Giant.” It also became a lame CBS series that had none of the charm of the original. Canned after 5 of the 10 episodes aired. I’d buy the DVD of this series if it ever appears, but only if they include the original.azing Stories Season 1 price as of this post, $34.99 preordered.

The Twilight Zone (1985): I always made sure I was around to watch, and archive (on Beta tapes) this CBS show. Sadly, my Betamax died before the advent of home PC DVD transfers. Now at last, I can relive this great, and creepy, revival of “the Zone.”

The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. – Another “at last” moment, this is due to arrive July 18, 2006. Not only is it a western, with some science-fiction thrown in (Wild, Wild West anyone?), but the star is Bruce Campbell. Awesome show. Retails for $99 (ouch) but can be pre-ordered atazon for $69.99 (still ouch). At least you get both seasons and bonus features(we hope).

Profit - Creepy as they come, this was a great show. Soon to be a part of my collection.

Also, not listed before but one I want:
Lone Gunmen – The DVD includes the X-Files episode that resolved the series plots that could not be completed due to early cancellation. Great show!

So what hasn’t made it yet from my dream list? Read on….

Golden Years – I doubt this one will ever be released. The 1991 CBS show from Stephen King about an old man who begins to age in reverse. It was a slow start, but as the show got good it got canned after 8 episodes. There was a DVD released that edited it down to 4 hours, called it a “movie” and tacked on an ending (never shown on TV) but I’d love to see the whole show again. (review here)

Parker Lewis Can’t Lose - I could live without the last season, but I want all the others. This show was everything that the Ferris Beuller TV show wasn’t. The only show that comes close to the style of Parker Lewis, is NBC’s “Scrubs.”

Max Headroom – I want the BBC movie, the BBC series, the Cinemax import of the BBC series, the 2 Cinemax series’ and the ABC series. For now, I covent my VHS tapes like a Grinch! Actor Matt Frewer was heavily made-up to look like computer animation, then processed digitally to make him even moreso. Primitive, but effective. I’d like to see him make a comeback. But Frewer looks like death now, so they would definitely need to use more computers. Wikipedia entry

Twin Peaks Season 2 – Never released, but there are hints all across the web point to Fall 2006 for this release. I think Season 1 should get a re-release too.

Doctor, Doctor - Speaking of Matt Frewer, he starred in this CBS series that was perfect for his improv comedy skills. Also starred “Lord Bowler” Brisco County, Jr. I thought it was funny then, and would like to know if I would still think so. Doubt it, and a DVD release would probably flop. Reruns maybe?

And while we are at it, let’s revisit some of the Comments of those old posts:

Shawn wished for “Homefront” (nope) and “Quantum Leap” (yes). Well, at least she got half of her wish.

Mem wanted “Quantum Leap” too. Hope she has it by now!

Okie Winery reminded me about “Profit.”

Pierce agreed with me on “Brisco.”

KB had my back on “Parker Lewis” (so did Pierce)

Christine wished for “Early Edition.” So far, nothing.

Brian hoped for “The Greatesterican Hero” and “The Incredible Hulk“. Happy now?

Dave was with me on “The Flash.” Got it yet?

Jenny (blog offline) wanted “Wonder Years” and “My So Called Life.” I “Wonder” if she has them after all these “Years?”

Another Jenny (no blog) longed for the relase of “Kids In The Hall“.

SOOOOOO, what needs to be released on DVD now that we have most of these covered?
