Apparently my very, very old rant “Why E.R. Sucks” has caught the attention of the official WB E.R. Message Board community.
I am trying to keep an open mind and see their side of it.
Probably if I read a rant slamming one of my favorite shows, I’d be offended too.
I think they missed the “spirit” of the post. I’d wager most regular readers of this site know my sense of humor and can see that it for the bit of fun that it was intended.
I was attacking the writers and producers for giving us mediocre plot lines and boring characters.
But judging from the ERfans comments, it seems more like they felt I was slamming the fans of E.R., not just the show.
Heeeey now, I don’t hate E.R. or the fans. In fact, if I didn’t care about it why would I bother pointing out how they can fix it? I still stand by what I said, and if you can see past the “rant-y” bits of the post, even a die-hard E.R. would have to agree with some of my points (come on now, isn’t there a kid/baby in danger in every episode?)
So, you be the judge.
What I said + lots of comments.
What they said. about what I said.
Was I too harsh? Are the ERfans too sensitive? Speak up!

methinks that those boards are full of rabid fans that will defend the show to its dying end. that's alright, everyone has their obsessions.
I think everyone is entitiled to their opinions, but no one should try to convince others to try to think like them. And no one should be chastized for thinking differently.
I am an ER fan, I watch every week, but I will admit, I do have my issues with the show, and it *has* seen better days. Why do I watch it? Because it's a *TV Show*… I watch it to be entertained.
oh, and… I don’t want to assume, but wonder if the median age of the people on those boards is 16 years old…
My god. I would never defend a TV show, no matter how much I liked it. Actors are paid to do nothing and Americans (ironically, with no lives themselves) will defend their favorite shows to the death. I mean really. It's a TV show. What is any actor going to do for them? Nothing. People are basically dumb, it seems.

The person whose handle is “erismylife”… that just about says it all.
Honestly, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Most of the comments in the WB thread about your post were illiterate. They’re overreacting to a complete stranger’s thoughts without realizing and accepting that the show *has* gone downhill.
This is your blog… say what you want, when you want. They have nothing to gripe about, unless they’re intimidated by the fact that you write in complete sentences with properly spelled words!
Hey, promoguy, are you from Texas? You used 'yall' in a sentence, and that is a thing of the south, I think. I use it, but only when typing to fellow 'southerners' because I'm not sure if most people will know what it means. (Yeah, it is pretty easy to figure out, and I probably just insulted a lot of people's intelligence)
I saw your post on the WB ER message board, and that was cool of you to handle the 'lashing out' as you did.
"An Episode to Cherish" … yeah, I think the writers went a bit over the top last year, and I love ER. I've watched it since the 2nd week it was on the air. Last season? A bit much, especially the cheesy commercials!
Any word on the return of TAR, by the way? I miss TAR!
