Blah Blah Blah, Jamie Lee Curtis gets her photo taken without her Glam-Slam look.
No doubt you’ve read the story, seen the photos, and maybe bought the issue of More Magazine. (what a prime opportinuity to get web traffic – totally lost, some folks just don’t get it)
But after I read this rebuttal to Jamie’s coming out, I was wondering what you thought of all this.
Comment here or direct to your thoughts in your own blog (trackback it even):
Is it just a well-timed publicity stunt to hype her new children’s book on self-esteem?
Is she doing something noble and should be commended?
Or should we even give a rat’s ass?

Well that’s good to know, I always thought celebrities were perfect. Huh? Like we didn’t already know that they are actually real people, too.
Not all, but many women, look better with make-up. It’s not that they look bad without it, make-up is used to cover imperfections and enhance the beauty that’s already there…that’s why we wear it. At least, that’s why I do.
I don’t think it was necessary for her to “come-out” really. Does she want to be applauded for being a real person? (Clap, clap)
As far as that rebuttal goes…sure JLC’s “coming-out” was timed to the release of her book. And sure it was opportunistic. It’s also publicity. And isn’t that what Hollywood relies on to sell products? I don’t think JLC necessarily needed to show us her flab to sell more books, but hey, whatever blows your skirt up, right?
I don’t know. I’m on the fence. I admire her for having the natural photos, etc. and for speaking out about the dark side of our collective obsession with how women look. But, the reviewer makes some good points when she wonders if the whole thing was a PR stunt. I’d probably give her the benefit of the doubt, but nothing surprises me about the extent celebs will go for press coverage, money, attention, etc.
Even still, she’s spoken out and raised awareness … got people thinking, etc. That’s a good thing.
I really don't care what she does.If she wants to show how fat she is,then that's her show.
I don’t give a damn why she did it, she gets props from me. So what if she’s got a book coming out? That’ll sell for a short time, but the American public will remember her sagging boobs forever because a whole lot of them are just shallow enough to think THAT’S what matters about a woman.
I think she’s beautiful.
d.
I have to applaud Jamie Lee for showing her true colors. I work with high school girls, and I’ve seen too many of them end up hospitalized because they are striving for some sort of body perfection that is unattainable and, frankly, grossly thin. So yay for her. I don’t really care if it was a publicity stunt. I’d like to see Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts and the female cast of Friends without makeup and airbrushing. It might save lives.
On a purely cranky note, though, Ms. Curtis adopted both of her children so, while not discounting the love and devotion she must feel toward them, it’s not like she has stretch marks or did any tit-flattening breast feeding. We can chalk up how good she still looks to that.
